What growing up in a town of 600 taught me about engaging with the world.

I’m not sure exactly when I stopped talking politics with my parents, but it was probably around the time healthcare policy was up for debate in 2009.

It’s striking to me that I can do this with a stranger, who lives 300 miles away, but not with my next-door neighbor.
